Biography
Graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Earlham College in
1984. Completed a doctorate in Public Policy with an
international development focus and Africa regional concentration
in 1991. Founded the academic group, Gays & Lesbians in
African Studies (GLAS) as part of the African Studies Association.
Between 1992 and 1996 I worked for the USAID-funded AIDSCAP
project to fight HIV/AIDS internationally. Initiated the
Private Sector AIDS Policy (PSAP) project with AIDSCAP, an
innovative approach to initiating workplace-based HIV/AIDS
policies and programs in developing countries. I continue to
be active in these planning efforts. Moved to Chicago in
1999 to serve as the Midwest Regional Director for Lambda Legal
Defense and Education Fund, the oldest and largest national
organization committed to achieving full civil rights for
lesbians, gay men, and people with HIV/AIDS.
