Current Projects

I am currently finishing a master's degree, as well as a certificate in Medieval Studies.  My master's thesis incorporates contemporary feminist arguments for/against sex work and an analysis of a Middle English version of two saints' lives, Mary of Egypt and Mary Magdalene.  I'm attempting to examine constructions of female sexuality in late medieval England, as it was perceived by canon law, and hagiographical texts like the one I'm working on (male- authored). I'm examining a connection between antisex feminist tropes and patriarchal constructions of womanhood, i.e., how the persona of the 'whore' (in my case the repentant prostitute saint genre) affects/disrupts/resists containment, in the realms of sexuality and self-description.
